Big prize up for grabs in this one, because both sides are looking to
make it to the semi finals for the first time in over a decade. Juventus
hold the advantage heading into the second leg after banking a 1-0 win
in Turin in the first leg thanks to a converted spot kick. The French
side have a bit of work to do in this one. Still, they can at least
boast an unbeaten home record against Italian sides. They are looking
for their first semi final in the competition since back in 2003/04, the
season they went to the final. Given the fact that Juventus won 3-0 at
Borussia Dortmund in the last round, you can obviously see why they are
favourites for Wednesday’s game. They have fallen at the quarter finals
on their last three appearances there, but their overall record in
Champions League quarter finals is W10 L5.
They are eying up what would
be their third away win on the bounce in the UEFA Champions League this
season, after clean sheet wins at Malmo and then Borussia Dortmund. The
last time they went to France, they took a 1-0 win at Lyon in last
season’s UEFA Europa League quarter finals. They hold a W4 D2 L5 record
in France though. However, Juventus have won all ten of their previous
knockout ties against French sides.
